4/13 Fundamentals of Forward Bends

When practiced with mindfulness, ease and the correct balance between effort and surrender, forward bends are deeply refreshing, soothing and restorative. Forward bending is a physical practice that allows us to turn inward and see the habitual tendencies of our own mind.

In this 2.5 hour workshop we will learn about the anatomy and alignment of forward bends and how to gradually open the legs, hips and back, protect the spine and practice safely to deepen our own expression of each asana. We will open the body with a deep flow, support each other with partner work and assists, and work towards progressively deeper forward bends and longer holds. We'll close with questions and reflections, meditation and relaxation.
