Change is not always easy, and growth is a process. Therapy can provide a safe space to be supported in exploring our growing edges. These “edges” are often the places we feel “stuck”, our limiting beliefs, and relational patterns that might be holding us back in some way. Therapy can provide a collaborative experience in identifying goals and working towards a more embodied and integrated lived experience, connected to our deepest truth.
My approach is warm, engaged and direct. I meet each client exactly where they are, with compassionate curiosity. I see the therapeutic relationship as an important part of the process, working through the ‘here and now’ relationship. Mindfulness and Somatic (body-centered) psychology are the foundations of my work with clients. A somatic approach looks at the mind-body as inherently connected, with the body expressing the narrative of our psyche.
Monique completed her Master’s degree in Somatic Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in 2015, and continued her training at the Center for Somatic Psychotherapy in San Francisco. In addition to private practice, Monique works with adolescents at Tamalpais High School, and is training in DBT therapy with the Innovative Center for DBT. Monique is also a yoga teacher at YogaWorks in Marin where she teaches yin yoga. Monique continues to be inspired by the integration of yoga and somatic psychology.
